Nollywood actress and philanthropist Tonto Dikeh has launched a new Christian ministry in Abuja, marking a significant shift in her public life as she embraces a more prominent role in Christian ministry.
Dikeh, now addressed as Evangelist Tonto Dikeh, is the founder of New Wine Prophetic Tabernacle (NWPT), which was launched in August 2026. Since the ministry began, the actress has been preaching and sharing personal testimonies about her Christian faith and what she describes as her deliverance from long-standing addictions.
The actress has previously spoken publicly about her spiritual transformation during services at Streams of Joy International, led by Pastor Jerry Eze. In emotional testimonies, she recounted what she described as freedom from smoking, alcoholism and what she referred to as demonic anger.
According to Dikeh, a major turning point in her spiritual journey occurred during an NSPPD conference in Ghana, where she said she experienced healing from persistent back pain and deliverance from addiction.
She also previously shared a testimony about reconnecting with a sister she had reportedly been separated from for years, attributing the reunion to prayers during a Streams of Joy service.
Her decision to transition from a career in entertainment into Christian ministry represents a new chapter for the actress, who has remained a prominent figure in Nigeria’s entertainment and philanthropic circles.
The development has, however, generated mixed reactions on social media, with some Nigerians welcoming her reported transformation and new faith-based calling, while others have questioned the authenticity of celebrity-driven transitions into ministry.
The development has also renewed conversations about the growing visibility of celebrities in Nigeria’s Christian ministry space and the emergence of celebrity pastors and ministers with large online followings.
For Dikeh, however, her new ministry represents an extension of the spiritual transformation she says she experienced after her encounters with prayer and Christian faith.
Her emergence as Evangelist Tonto Dikeh is expected to keep attracting public attention as she balances her new ministry role with her established identity as a Nollywood actress and philanthropist.
