Popular Nigerian dancer and entertainer Iweh Odinaka, widely known as Poco Lee, has been remanded in custody in the United Kingdom following allegations of assault.
Poco Lee is scheduled to appear before the Snaresbrook Crown Court in London for a plea hearing in mid-September.
The detention was confirmed by Benjamin Kuti, founder of the Nigerian community group in the UK and popularly known as the Oluomo of Derby.
“I can confirm that the reports are true. Poco Lee is currently on remand in a UK prison. His next court date is scheduled for the second week of September, when he is expected to have a plea hearing,” Kuti stated.
Kuti noted that he plans to attend the court proceedings, citing his ongoing community efforts to support Nigerians facing legal challenges abroad. However, he urged the public to refrain from premature judgment.
“It is important that we allow the legal process to take its course,” Kuti added. “Everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”
Speculation surrounding the dancer’s arrest first surfaced on social media in mid-August. Official details regarding the specific circumstances of the alleged assault remain undisclosed, and neither Poco Lee nor his legal representatives have issued a public statement.
Poco Lee rose to prominence as one of Nigeria’s primary hype men and street-pop dancers, gaining international recognition through high-profile collaborations and viral choreography.
The allegations against the entertainer remain unproven as the legal proceedings continue.
