Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has formally declared his support for the “Rainbow Coalition,” a multi-party-political movement spearheaded by his political benefactor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Governor Fubara made the declaration during the groundbreaking ceremony for the reconstruction and equipping of the Riven Medical Facility, a public-private partnership (PPP) pharmaceutical manufacturing project in the state.
Declaring an end to recent political friction, Governor Fubara endorsed President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election and named Kingsley Chinda as his preferred successor for the governorship. He instructed his supporters to back all candidates running under the Rainbow Coalition banner.
“The period of political crisis is over,” Fubara declared. “What Rivers State needs now is peace, unity, and development. We must all work together to move the state forward. I have taken my decision, and I will not be involved in anything that will divide our people or destroy the peace we have worked hard to achieve.”
The governor brushed aside calls from some quarters urging him to delay joining the movement, maintaining that he would reject any agenda capable of reigniting political divisions.
Shifting to the pharmaceutical venture, Governor Fubara reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to seeing the project through to completion.
He noted that state backing was granted only after receiving firm assurances from private investors and government officials regarding the project’s economic viability and strict delivery timelines.
Highlighting benefits for the host community and the wider state economy, the governor appealed to local residents to ensure a peaceful environment for operations.
He emphasized that the facility would boost healthcare delivery, drive industrial development, and generate job opportunities across Rivers State.
