In a bid to boost regional food security, Senator Ipalibo Harry Banigo, representing the Rivers West Senatorial District, has empowered more than 100 local farmers with modern agricultural machinery and inputs to enhance farm productivity across the district.
The empowerment package, distributed through the Rivers West Senatorial Secretariat, included high-yield fertilizers, gasoline-powered water pumps, and motorized spraying machines.
The initiative is designed to accelerate the adoption of modern farming techniques, boost crop yields, and strengthen food security and economic livelihoods throughout the senatorial district.
Beneficiaries at the event commended the lawmaker, noting that the gesture cut across political lines to deliver direct economic relief to grassroots agricultural producers. Speaking on behalf of the farmers, several recipients described the program as a genuine demonstration of her commitment to the economic advancement and welfare of her constituents.
In recognition of her sustained contributions to community upliftment, the Voice of Niger Deltamisation Association presented Senator Banigo with an Award of Honour during the ceremony.
Presenting the plaque, the organization commended the former deputy governor as a “true champion of community development and empowerment” whose legislative leadership continues to prioritize human capital development.
