FCT Court Orders Final Forfeiture Of Billions In Assets Linked To Aisha Achimugu

A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory sitting in Apo, Abuja, has ordered the final forfeiture of assets worth billions of naira linked to businesswoman, Aisha Achimugu, to the Federal Government.

Presiding Judge, Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie, issued the order while ruling on an application for permanent forfeiture filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.The EFCC told the court that the assets are “high-value personal effects and cash holdings” allegedly connected to Achimugu.

The commission had earlier secured an interim forfeiture order before approaching the court for final forfeiture, which was granted on Thursday. 

Assets Forfeited

According to court documents, the forfeited items include:

Jewellery valued at N4,645,170.2911

11 Exotic vehicles worth N4,293,000,000

$50,000 in cash

N30,000,000 in cash

With the final forfeiture order, the assets now legally belong to the Federal Government. The EFCC is expected to commence the process of disposal in line with the law.

The case adds to the Commission’s ongoing efforts to recover assets allegedly linked to financial crimes.This is a developing story.
