Russia Releases New Footage Of Crocus City Hall Attack That Killed 149

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has released new footage of the deadly attack on the Crocus City Hall concert venue that left 149 people dead and over 600 injured. The video, published Tuesday, shows the movements of the gunmen inside the 6,200-seat hall in Krasnogorsk, northwest Moscow, during the March 22, 2024 massacre – Russia’s deadliest terror attack in two decades.

According to testimony referenced in the new release, Shamsidin Fariduni, identified as the leader of the four-man team, entered the hall first to confirm the concert start time and check for police presence before signalling the others to move in.

The footage shows the attackers, all citizens of Tajikistan, storming the lobby and auditorium armed with assault rifles, knives and incendiary bombs made from gasoline poured into water bottles. Investigators said they shot concertgoers at random, including children, and set fire to the building, trapping hundreds inside.

Witnesses described 20 minutes of chaos as flames spread, the roof collapsed and many victims died from smoke inhalation. The Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISIS-K) claimed responsibility and released its own video of the attack, though Russian authorities have continued to allege, without evidence, that Ukraine was involved – a claim Kyiv strongly denies.

The new footage was released months after a Moscow military court jailed 19 people for their roles in the attack in March 2026.

Four gunmen and 11 accomplices received life sentences, while four others were jailed for 19 to 22 years for providing logistical support. The trial was held behind closed doors.

The FSB said the new video is part of ongoing investigations to identify organizers of the attack.
