The Rivers International Film Festival, RIFF, has expressed gratitude to the Rivers State Government for its official endorsement of the 2026 edition of the festival.

In a statement, the organisers said they are grateful to the Rivers State Government for the endorsement through the office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mr Freddy Ndigbara.

The Festival lauded the administration of Governor Siminalayi Fubara for projecting Rivers State as a tourism hub.

“The Rivers International Film Festival is grateful to His Excellency, Sir (Dr.) Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS and his administration for projecting Rivers State as a tourist hub. It is no coincidence that during your administration, Bonny Island, through the Discover Bonny 2026, was announced as being recognised as a tourist destination,” the statement said.

According to the organisers, the recognition of Bonny Island as a tourist destination affirms that Rivers State is safe and hospitable for investors.

“As a brand with integrity we will continue to uphold our core values and carry out projects that will help eradicate poverty and contribute to the economic development of our dear state and every creative person that comes in contact with us,” it added.

This year’s Rivers International Film Festival is scheduled to hold from 29th October to 1st November, 2026 at the Ibanise Hall, Bonny Island, with the theme “Film Tourism: A Pathway to Economic Development.”

Dr Ken Osunwa is the Director of this year’s festival.
