By Precious Amadi

The Rivers State House of Assembly has passed the 2026–2028 Medium Term Expenditure Framework presented by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The MTEF was passed during the plenary earlier on Friday.

Governor Fubara had earlier this week submitted the 3-year fiscal plan to the House for consideration. The governor’s letter conveying the MTEF was read during plenary by Speaker Martin Amaewhule.

Speaking on the submission, Amaewhule noted that the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework ought to have been presented since September last year in line with statutory provisions. He added that the last MTEF presented to the House was submitted in 2023 by former governor Nyesom Wike.

The MTEF outlines the state’s revenue projections, expenditure ceilings, and fiscal strategy for the next three years, and will serve as the basis for the annual budgets from 2026 to 2028.
