The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, has assured residents of the state to expect a massive “harvest of constituency projects” from lawmakers between now and the next general elections.

Speaker Amaewhule made this disclosure during the official commissioning of a key constituency project in Okporowo, located within the Ogbakiri community of Emohua Local Government Area.

According to the Speaker, the project was successfully nominated by the member representing Emohua State Constituency, Dame Justina Emeji, following comprehensive consultations with her constituents to determine their immediate needs.

Amaewhule maintained that the leadership and members of the 10th Assembly remain fiercely committed to fulfilling the three core responsibilities of a legislator, which he identified as lawmaking, oversight functions, and effective representation.

Touching on the political landscape of Rivers State, Amaewhule reiterated the unwavering loyalty of the state lawmakers to their political leader, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike. He asserted that Minister Wike has never led them astray and further encouraged the people of Emohua to remain peaceful and united.

In her remarks, the host legislator, Dame Justina Emeji, expressed profound gratitude to the Speaker for his constant encouragement throughout the execution of the initiative. She further revealed that the critical funding utilized for the constituency project was secured during the period of emergency rule in the state.

Prominent stakeholders present at the event also threw their weight behind the legislative strides.

The Chairman of the South South Monarchs Forum, Oha Sergent Awuse, alongside the Director General of the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA), Chukwuemeka Woke, both spoke extensively on the socio-economic significance of the project. They expressed strong optimism that the constituency would benefit from even more developmental initiatives from the lawmaker in the near future.
