PORT HARCOURT- The 10th Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Professor Princewill Chike, has reaffirmed his commitment to reposition the institution as a globally respected citadel driven by academic excellence.
Prof. Chike stated this on Monday during his official handover and assumption of office.
He outlined an eight-point agenda anchored on Research, Innovation, Knowledge Translation, Digital Transformation, ICT-Driven Governance, Institutional Harmony, and Inclusive Leadership.
He said the vision can be achieved through discipline, purposeful leadership, strategic planning, honesty, and hard work, stressing that UNIPORT can consolidate its legacy and attain world-class status.
The VC called for collaboration among host communities, staff, students, and management. He warned against cultism and sex-for-grades, threatening stiff sanctions for offenders. “If you know you have been sexually harassing students, stop it. The Governing Council is watching. We will come after you,” he said.
He also charged Deans and Heads of Departments to align with his vision or resign.The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Senator Mao Ohuabunwo, who was present, urged Prof. Chike to take the university to greater heights.
