The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has assured the public that the Nigeria Police Force, in coordination with sister security agencies, has intensified operational efforts to secure the safe and speedy release of worshippers recently abducted in Dekara, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
Disu made the commitment during an operational assessment visit to the Niger State Police Command headquarters, where he reviewed ongoing tactical maneuvers and delivered additional operational support to bolster regional security.
Speaking to officers and commanders, the Police Chief strongly condemned the abduction, reiterating that the federal government and police leadership remain deeply concerned about the safety of the victims.
To accelerate rescue operations and restore security across vulnerable communities, the IGP announced the immediate deployment of specialized units, including Tactical and Counter-Terrorism teams, the Special Intervention Squad (SIS), and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) personnel.
“Attacks on innocent citizens carry far-reaching consequences—not only threatening individual safety, but also disrupting local commerce and broader economic development across Niger State and the nation,” Disu stated.
Charging personnel of the Niger State Command to maintain high operational standards, the Police Chief urged officers to remain vigilant, proactive, and unflinchingly committed to their constitutional duties as search-and-rescue operations proceed.
