Heartbreak As One Of NAF Aircraft Victims Got Married Two Weeks Ago

By Samuel Olusegun Precious

One of the victims of the NAF aircraft that crashed in Ondo State on Monday has been identified as married just two weeks ago.

Squadron Leader Ahamefule Man-Ugwueje, also identified as Aham Man Ugweje, has been named as the pilot flying the NAF ATR-42-500MP Maritime Patrol aircraft, registration NAF 931, that crashed in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State on Monday.

According to military sources, the officer got married just two weeks before the accident while on a routine flight from Benin to Lagos.

“Squadron Leader Man Ugweje Aham was the pilot of the ill-fated aircraft. Sadly, he got married two weeks ago,” a senior Air Force officer confirmed to an online news outlet.

everydaylagos.ngThe aircraft was operated by the 81 Air Maritime Group in Benin City and was used mainly for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance operations.

The NAF had earlier confirmed 25 persons were on board — five crew members and 20 passengers — and that no survivor was found. The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has directed a full investigation into the crash.

President Bola Tinubu has declared three days of national mourning and ordered flags to fly at half-mast in honour of the victims.
