As political momentum builds ahead of the 2027 general elections, the leader of the Rainbow Coalition in Abua/Odual Local Government Area, Professor Henry Ogiri, has advised opposition political parties against wasting time and financial resources campaigning against the coalition’s candidates.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with newsmen, Prof. Ogiri expressed absolute confidence in the political strength of the coalition, asserting that its candidates possess the track record, reforms, and competence required to sweep the polls in Rivers State.
He specifically identified President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC governorship candidate Rt. Hon. Kingsley Ogundu Chinda, and the lawmaker representing Abua/Odual Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. John Dominic Iderima, as the frontrunners to beat.
“Opposition political parties should not waste their time and resources campaigning against the candidates of the Rainbow Coalition,” Ogiri stated. “Based on their performance and the reforms they have brought, these are the candidates to beat in the 2027 elections.”
Addressing the debate on zoning and ethnic politics ahead of the governorship race, the political leader urged Rivers voters to reject tribal considerations and prioritize competence, experience, and capacity for good governance.
Describing Kingsley Chinda as a highly qualified leader capable of steering the state toward sustainable development, Ogiri appealed to the electorate to evaluate candidates strictly on their policy proposals and past achievements.
“Rivers people should jettison tribalism and vote for competence,” he added. “The choice of who becomes governor should be based on the candidate’s ability, experience, and capacity to deliver, not on ethnicity.”
Prof. Ogiri further charged residents of Abua/Odual Local Government Area and Rivers State at large to participate actively in the electoral process as political parties intensify nationwide preparations for the 2027 general elections.
