NMDPRA SEALS TWO STATIONS, SANCTIONS ANOTHER IN PORT HARCOURT OVER FUEL UNDER-DISPENSING

By Ephraim Emmanuel

The Port Harcourt Regional Office of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has sealed two petrol stations and sanctioned a third in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for allegedly under-dispensing petroleum products to motorists.

The affected retail outlets include MRS Filling Station, located near CFC on Aba Road, and Stage Oil, situated near Craft Centre along Aba Road, both of which were sealed. Rainoil Filling Station, located along Station Road, was also sanctioned during the operation.

The regulatory action followed a routine compliance inspection led by NMDPRA Executive Director Mustafa Lamorde, who represented the agency’s Chief Executive, Rabiu Umar. Lamorde emphasized that the enforcement exercise is part of ongoing nationwide efforts to enforce approved operational standards in the downstream petroleum sector and protect consumers from sharp practices.

Lamorde urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspected sharp practices or cheating by petroleum marketers to the agency for prompt investigation and enforcement.

He further disclosed that the NMDPRA has upgraded its testing laboratories in Port Harcourt to ensure rigorous quality control testing of petroleum products distributed across the region, safeguarding both vehicle engines and consumer interests.
