As political activities heighten ahead of the 2027 general elections, a stakeholder of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Professor Lawrence Chuku, has called on politicians to focus on issues and policies affecting the people, rather than engage in character assassination.
Professor Chuku, of the University of Port Harcourt, in an interview with Exceed FM, faulted claims that the vice presidential candidate of the ADC, Chibuike Amaechi, did not attract any project to the Evo Kingdom during his eight years as Governor of Rivers State, describing the claims as untrue. A claim made over the weekend by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
He said political campaigns should be centered on facts, issues and the development needs of the people, rather than personal attacks or unsubstantiated allegations.
According to the former Obio/Akpor Council boss, Amaechi impacted the Evo Kingdom infrastructurally more than any other political leader. Professor Chuku listed some of the projects executed by the former governor in the kingdom to include the dualization and construction of several roads such as Stadium Road, Elelenwo-Akpajo Road, Oginigba-Trans-Amadi Road, Odagwa Road, Atali-Rumukwurusi Road, Oporo Road, Eligbolo-Rumuodara Link Road, Eliozu-Rumuokoro Road, Rumuodara-Elimgbu Road, internal roads in Rumuodara new layout and the Garrison-Trans-Amadi-Oginigba-Woji-Elelenwo road corridor.
He added that Amaechi also established the Mother and Child health facility at Akpajo and other health centres, including the one at Rumuodara and Okoro-Noda in Elelenwo village.Professor Chuku noted that Amaechi’s administration also invested in education and other social infrastructure in the kingdom, insisting that records of his projects remain visible across Evo communities.
