The family of Kamadioye Krama, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has called on law enforcement agencies to track down the unidentified gunmen who shot him dead in Rivers State.
The incident occurred on Friday, September 18, in the Emilaghan community of Abua-Odual Local Government Area. Krama, a father of four, was at the community town hall preparing for a scheduled local event set for Saturday when armed assailants opened fire on him.
Speaking in a telephone interview, the deceased’s elder brother, Monday Krama, expressed deep grief over the killing while refuting claims that the event was politically motivated.
“The gathering was entirely non-political,” Monday Krama stated, dismissing reports that the town hall meeting involved party activities. He added that an official complaint has been lodged with the local police division.
The deceased leaves behind a wife and four children.
Although the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for the Abua/Odual Division and a team of officers have visited the bereaved family, the Rivers State Police Command has yet to issue a formal statement or announce any arrests in connection with the attack.
