2027: Obi-Kwankwaso Movement Names 59-Member Campaign Council

By Olusegun Samuel Precious

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement has unveiled a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council to drive grassroots support for the joint presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

The structure was announced on Thursday in a statement by the movement’s National Secretary, Saadatu Sani. The newly inaugurated council comprises leadership executives, zonal and state coordinators, and directors heading key campaign directorates across the country’s six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The Director-General of the movement, John Ughulu—a leadership strategist based in Atlanta—will serve as the Director-General of the Campaign Council. Saadatu Sani, a former member of the House of Representatives representing Lere Federal Constituency, retains a key leadership role in the campaign execution.

State coordinators were also appointed across all 36 states and the FCT, including Princess Jane Petters (Rivers), Ibironke Ogboro (Lagos), Rabiu Na Begu (Kano), and Ibrahim Jabir (FCT).

In her address to the appointees, Sani described the appointments as a call to duty, urging members to take the ticket’s message directly to the grassroots.

The movement clarified that the 59-member council functions as a political pressure structure and does not replace the official NDC campaign council, which NDC spokesperson Osa Director confirmed will be announced separately.
