2026 Passport Index: 54 Nations Offer eVisas to Nigerian Travelers

By Sandra Kenneth

Nigerian passport holders now have access to electronic visas (eVisas) for 54 countries and territories worldwide, according to a 2026 global passport evaluation released by travel platform eVisas.io.

The expanding list of digital visa destinations includes major economic and tourist hubs such as the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Singapore, Qatar, Malaysia, Mauritius, Rwanda, and Thailand.

An eVisa system enables eligible travelers to submit applications, upload documentation, and receive entry approvals entirely online, bypassing traditional paper-based embassy processes and physical appointments.

Beyond electronic visas, the evaluation highlights additional mobility options available to Nigerian nationals:

Visa-Free Access: 26 destinations currently permit entry without requiring a visa prior to travel.

Visa on Arrival: 5 countries issue entry visas to Nigerian travelers upon arrival at their ports of entry.

Traditional Visas: 125 countries still require standard physical visa applications processed through embassies or consular offices prior to departure.

The 54 destinations currently offering eVisas to Nigerian passport holders comprise Albania, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Angola, Bahamas, Bahrain, Bhutan, Botswana, Burundi, Cambodia, Colombia, Cuba, Djibouti, DR Congo, Ecuador, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Guyana, Hong Kong, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Moldova, Namibia, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Qatar, Samoa, São Tomé and Príncipe, Sierra Leone, Singapore, South Africa, South Sudan, Suriname, Tajikistan, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Trinidad and Tobago, Tuvalu, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, and Zambia.
