Wike Sets Up Abe-Led Committee to Engage Fubara over ‘Rainbow Coalition

By Sandra Kenneth

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revealed that a high-powered committee headed by former federal lawmaker Senator Magnus Abe has been constituted to meet with the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara.

Speaking during his monthly media interaction with journalists in Abuja, Wike outlined that the panel’s primary objective is to discuss the integration of Governor Fubara and his political allies into the “Rainbow Coalition” in Rivers State.

According to the minister, Governor Fubara has already agreed to the dialogue and scheduled a date for the meeting—a development Wike described as a positive sign of progress and political alignment for the state.

Addressing the fallout from the state’s ongoing political tensions, Wike dismissed claims that the dispute had cost him politically, maintaining that he lost nothing throughout the crisis. He explained that strategic political survival and long-term relevance were key factors influencing the decision to withhold support for Governor Fubara’s second-term bid.
