The National Youth Service Corps in Rivers State has released 2,538 Corps Members from the 2025 Batch B Stream II, but urged them to shun quick wealth and immediately put their acquired skills to work to stay afloat in a tough economy.
Speaking at the passing-out ceremony held on Thursday at the Convocation Arena of Rivers State University, Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, the Rivers State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe, told the outgoing Corps Members to uphold integrity, embrace hard work, and “do right at all times to all men and women.”
“Fully activate the skills you acquired during your service year to improve your livelihoods and contribute positively to society,” Oleghe charged. “Avoid the get-rich-quick syndrome. Embrace hard work, discipline, dignity of labour and the fear of God as you begin the next phase of your lives.”
Also speaking, Special Guest of Honour and Vice Chancellor of Rivers State University, Prof. Isaac Zeb-Obipi, urged the Corps Members to uphold ethical values that would enhance their personal image and bring honour to their families. He assured those interested in postgraduate studies at RSU of support to integrate into the university community.
The ceremony covered Corps Members who served in Obio/Akpor and Port Harcourt City Local Government Areas.
The NYSC disclosed that:
48 Corps Members — 28 males and 20 females — had their service year extended
12 others — 5 males and 7 females — were directed to repeat the service year
4 Corps Members died in service and were honoured for “paying the supreme sacrifice to the nation”
The Coordinator congratulated those passing out and urged them to remain good ambassadors of the NYSC scheme as they transit into the labour market.
