Tensions have flared in Aluu Community, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, following an arson attack on the family home of Thomas Isaiah, a prominent chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The incident occurred just hours after Isaiah, who serves as the Chief Whip and Alternate Leader of the ADC in Aluu, hosted a meeting of party youth leaders at his residence.
According to sources, the attack was allegedly carried out by a gang of thugs led by a local community member identified as “Docko,”.
Witnesses claim that Docko led operatives of the local vigilante group to the property. The assailants reportedly physically assaulted Isaiah’s mother before dousing the family building in fuel and setting it ablaze.
The violent assault follows a recent warning broadcast by the Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, who declared that any group or individual hosting unauthorized gatherings within the LGA without prior approval from his office would face severe consequences.
Rivers State Police have not issued an official statement regarding the attack.
