Orashi Congress to Youths: Reject Drug Abuse on UN Anti-Drugs Day

By Samuel Olusegun Precious

As the world marks the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on Friday, June 26, the Orashi National Congress has urged Orashi youths at home and in the diaspora to reject drug abuse and illicit trafficking.

In a statement issued in Port Harcourt, President General of the Congress, Emeni Ibe, warned that hard drugs destroy lives, damage mental and physical health, fuel crime, ruin destinies, and can lead to untimely death.

He called on parents, community leaders, and relevant agencies to intensify efforts to protect young people from the dangers of substance abuse.

The Congress noted that statistics from Rivers State indicate that over 11 percent of youths in the state are affected by drug abuse.
