Security operatives on Saturday morning confronted Abiola Ibrahim, a member of the Osun State House of Assembly representing the Irewole/Isokan Constituency, following the discovery of a large group of intending voters at a private residence in Ikire.
The encounter unfolded as voting processes commenced across local government areas for the Osun State governorship election. Armed and uniformed police personnel interrogated the lawmaker at the location, which Ibrahim identified as belonging to his late father, Raji Ibrahim.
Approximately 146 individuals were found seated on the floor within the premises as officers questioned the lawmaker regarding their presence. When pressed on why a crowd had gathered at the residence on election day, Ibrahim maintained that the individuals were present to participate in the day’s vote.
“They are voters for the election happening today,” Ibrahim informed the security team.
Responding to further questions about whether the crowd consisted of local residents, the Accord Party member acknowledged that the group included both local residents and individuals from outside the immediate community.
“Some of them are, some of them are indigenes from outside. I did not hire them. I did not promise anything,” Ibrahim stated, adding that he was not acting as their polling agent.
During the interaction, officers were seen holding Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) that Ibrahim said belonged to the voters present.
The development follows increased security measures across Osun State directed by top law enforcement leadership, including strict operational directives against voter gathering, illegal mobilization, and electoral infractions during the governorship contest.
