The Action Democratic Party (ADP) gubernatorial candidate in Rivers State, Angel Lawson, has sharply criticized Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, accusing them of prioritizing personal political interests over good governance.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Exceedfm, Lawson stated that the residents of Rivers State have continued to bear the brunt of bad governance sparked by the political feud between the governor and his predecessor.
He noted that despite recent reports of a settlement, the state continues to experience significant setbacks across key sectors.
Lawson also raised serious concerns over the delayed passage of the state budget by the House of Assembly. He cautioned that the current administration and the legislature are effectively playing with the livelihoods, job prospects, and overall economic development of the state.
“Every day the government fails in its duty to foster job creation and support local businesses, the people suffer under a crumbling economy,” Lawson said. He added that citizens currently lack the means to hold the government fully accountable.
The ADP candidate stressed that Rivers people deserve functional democratic institutions, an executive branch capable of governing without political interference, and leaders who can resolve differences without compromising the state’s economy.
Additionally, Lawson condemned the emerging “rainbow coalition” of political parties, describing the alignment as a calculated move intended to weaken democratic competition and undermine democracy in the state.
