A new political party, the Grassroot Initiative Party, GRIP, has taken a major step toward full political recognition.
On Wednesday in Abuja, INEC officials stormed GRIP’s National Secretariat in Utako for the statutory physical verification of documents.
This followed a court order that compelled INEC to comply with its guidelines and grant GRIP the full 30-day window, after the party paid all statutory dues.
INEC verified every document submitted on the commission’s portal. Records checked included the party’s highest, medium, and lower organs.
The attendance register showed full representation: NWC members, Zonal leaders, and State Chairpersons from all 36 states + FCT were present.
“A Party For The People”
Nze Chukwumezie Kanayo Christian, Acting National Chairman & Founder, told journalists:
“Our vision is to build a united, prosperous and people-driven Nigeria where governance is inclusive, transparent, accountable, and responsive to the needs of every citizen. GRIP has come a long way. Today is proof that the masses can still have a voice.”_
Also, Dr. Ken Osunwa, National ICT Officer, added:
“Our core values are simple: people-centered leadership, zero tolerance for corruption. We pay high attention to the welfare of every member and every Nigerian. GRIP is here to end that cycle and give hope back to the people.”_
Symbolic Moment
The day ended with party leaders hosting the GRIP flag at the National Office in Utako — described as a sign that “a new movement for true change has arrived.”
What’s Next
With verification concluded, all eyes are now on INEC to issue GRIP its final certificate so the party can contest and give Nigerians a credible alternative.
The party assured Nigerians that it remains committed to grassroots mobilization, youth and accountable governance ahead of the next election cycle.
