Nigerian Grammy Winner Burna Boy and global pop icon Shakira have set a new record with their World Cup song, ‘Dai Dai’. The track is now the highest-charting World Cup song in music history.
This week, the song jumped 25 places on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart to reach Number 17. With this jump, it beat the previous record held by Shakira’s famous 2010 song, ‘Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)’.
‘Dai Dai’ is also performing well in other countries. It climbed to Number 3 on the Canadian Hot 100 and is currently fighting for the top spot on the UK Singles Chart.
The news comes as Billboard officially ended its World Digital Song Sales chart, with its final ranking released on June 27, 2026. Over the years, that chart tracked popular international songs and frequently featured top Nigerian artists like Wizkid, Mr Eazi, and Rema.
