Panic and confusion broke out on Wednesday after a three-storey building under construction collapsed along Peter Odili Road, near the Internal Flight Station area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, trapping several workers under the rubble.
Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred while construction activities were ongoing at the site. Residents and passersby immediately mobilized to assist in rescue efforts before emergency responders arrived at the scene.
As of press time, the exact number of persons trapped had not been officially confirmed. Rescue operations were still underway to evacuate victims from the debris. The collapse comes barely two weeks after similar building-under-construction incidents were recorded in parts of Obio/Akpor, raising fresh concerns about building standards and enforcement of construction regulations in the state.

Authorities are expected to provide updates on casualties and the cause of the collapse once rescue efforts are concluded.
