Flooding Raises Concerns in Rumuomoi Community

Some residents of Rumuomoi Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State have raised concern over flooding caused by a heavy downpour in the area.

The flood water submerged some of the  roads and affected several homes in the community, making movement difficult for residents and disrupting their daily activities. Some affected residents said they could not leave their homes, while others struggled to save their belongings from the rising water.

The residents, when interviewed by ExceedFM News, described the situation as worrying, saying the recurring flooding poses a threat to lives and property. They expressed fear that the situation could become worse if urgent action is not taken.

The residents are calling on the government and relevant agencies to intervene by improving drainage systems and providing a lasting solution to the flooding problem in the community.

You will recall that the Nigeria Meteorological Service NIMET, had predicted heavy rains and flooding in about 26 states this year and hundreds of local government areas across the country.
