2Baba Breaks Silence, Confirms Marital Friction Following Abuja Nightclub Drama

By Sandra Kenneth

Iconic Nigerian music star Innocent Idibia, popular as 2Baba, has publicly confirmed ongoing marital strain with his wife, Natasha Osawaru, following a chaotic confrontation at an Abuja venue over the weekend.

Addressing concertgoers during the “50 Years on Stage” anniversary show for veteran musician Daddy Showkey on Sunday, August 9, 2026, the singer candidly reflected on his recent relationship struggles.

Addressing the crowd in Pidgin English, 2Baba acknowledged the turbulence, remarking, “I don go look for trouble. I don hear am. Going forward, I don decide not to dey look for trouble again.”

When a member of the audience shouted that the dramatic exchange was merely an expression of affection—calling out, “Na love now”—the Afrobeat icon swiftly dismissed the sentiment, replying, “Na love? You dey craze.”

Incident at Abuja Nightclub

The public declaration comes on the heels of a confrontation at a newly opened nightclub in Abuja on Friday, where 2Baba was scheduled to perform.

According to viral videos and reports circulated online, Osawaru reportedly arrived at the venue accompanied by unidentified individuals, demanding an audience with her husband. The confrontation followed weeks of speculation that the musician had departed their shared residence and severed direct communication lines with her.

Following the incident, 2Baba noticeably adjusted his social media presence over the weekend, unfollowing Osawaru and re-following his ex-wife, Annie Idibia.

While representatives for the couple have yet to issue an official formal statement, 2Baba’s onstage remarks stand as his first direct public acknowledgment of the marital crisis.
