The remains of an unidentified young woman have been recovered from a riverbank in Ogoda Community, Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The body was reportedly found floating along the riverbank by security agencies and the Chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Area, Eugene Chita Epelle.

Speaking at the scene, Epelle condemned the incident and described the killing as unacceptable.

He assured residents that anyone found responsible would face the full weight of the law, while reaffirming the council’s commitment to strengthening security across the local government area.

Meanwhile, the Paramount Ruler of Ogoda Community, Ogbutor Tom, said the incident had heightened fear among residents.

The traditional ruler appealed to security agencies to increase their presence in the community and take urgent measures to protect residents from criminal attacks.

The remains of the deceased have been deposited at a mortuary, while investigations are expected to establish the circumstances surrounding her death and identify those responsible.

Claims that the woman was abducted, killed and had her organs harvested have not been independently established and remain subject to investigation.
