WIKE DEFENDS RAINBOW COALITION, SAYS MOVEMENT AIMED AT BOOSTING TINUBU’S RE-ELECTION

By Sandra Kenneth

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has strongly defended the Rainbow Coalition backing President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, dismissing fears that the initiative could spark division or disarray within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking during a media parley in Abuja on Tuesday, Wike explained that the coalition is strategically designed to broaden the President’s electoral base by harmonizing the efforts of dedicated APC members with cross-party supporters who share a vision for Tinubu’s return to office.

“If you see that word, PBT/APC, it means those who are supporting the president who are not members of the party, together with the party, are working together to achieve that purpose,” Wike clarified.

Addressing suggestions that the movement might ruffle feathers or unsettle party faithful, the minister pointed to high-profile figures involved in state-level coordination—such as Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, and himself—as proof that the coalition operates as a broad-based mobilization vehicle rather than an internal faction.

He maintained that while the APC remains the primary platform for Tinubu’s candidacy, welcoming external political allies is vital for a resounding victory.
