THOSE ATTRIBUTING OKOROCHA’S COURT VICTORY TO WIKE ARE MISCHIEVOUS – CAMP

By Samuel Olusegun Precious

The camp of former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha  has described as mischievous and baseless insinuations linking the former governor’s court victory over Hope Uzodimma to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

The reaction comes after social media went agog following Thursday’s Federal High Court judgement, with netizens resurfacing an old video of Okorocha and Wike dancing and celebrating together.

A member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council who spoke anonymously had also claimed the “strange ruling” was Wike’s handwork to punish Uzodimma for opposing the Rainbow Coalition.

But sources close to Okorocha dismissed the claims:”Those attributing Okorocha’s court victory to Wike are mischievous. This was a straightforward case of stolen mandate. INEC monitored the primary on May 18, Okorocha polled 150,780 votes against Uzodimma’s 102,158. The court only affirmed what INEC’s authentic result showed,” a close associate said.”

This is not about Wike. It is about justice. The court is the last hope of both the common man and uncommon man,” Okorocha himself said, thanking the judiciary for standing firm “despite fake news meant to arm-twist them.”

Analysts note that while Wike and Uzodimma have indeed fallen out over the Rainbow Coalition – Wike has openly vowed never to support Uzodimma for Senate President and accused him of trying to use the Progressive Governors Forum to push personal ambition – there is no evidence linking Wike to the suit FHC/ABJ/CS/1854/2026 filed by Okorocha.

Okorocha, who himself admitted Wike’s Rainbow Coalition idea is “useful,” insisted the Presidency is “tired of nonsense” and allowed institutions to work.

Justice Obiora Egwuatu had ruled that Uzodimma did not win the primary and ordered APC to submit Okorocha’s name and INEC to publish it as candidate for the January 16, 2027 election.

The video in circulation, reports confirm, does not establish any connection between Wike and the court’s decision.
