Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has selected the Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Major Jack, as its deputy governorship candidate.
The State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Ikenga Chibuike, confirmed the selection in a statement on Tuesday.
With this development, Jack will run alongside the party’s governorship candidate, Hon. Kingsley Ogundu Chinda, who secured the APC ticket during the primary election held in May 2026.
Party sources indicate that the choice of Jack is a strategic move designed to ensure geographical balance on the executive ticket and consolidate the party’s grassroots structure, particularly across the riverine communities of the state.
Jack’s emergence comes several months after his high-profile defection to the APC in December 2025, when he joined the party alongside the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, and several other members of the state legislature.
