By Sandra Kenneth

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is set to usher in a new era as outgoing Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, officially hands over the reins of leadership to his successor, Prof. Segun Aina, on Friday, July 31, 2026.

According to an official notice released by the board on Wednesday, the handover ceremony will commence at 10:00 AM and will be broadcast live across JAMB’s official social media channels.

Describing the upcoming event as a significant milestone in its leadership history, the examination body invited members of the public to tune in and witness the formal transition.

The event marks the end of Prof. Oloyede’s tenure as Registrar and signals the official start of Prof. Aina’s administration.

A Profile in Digital Expertise

Prof. Aina’s appointment was previously announced in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

A Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Aina brings extensive experience in digital infrastructure, national examination architecture, and institutional governance.

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, alongside a Master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security and a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University in the United Kingdom. He is also an alumnus of the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.

With over 15 years of consulting experience, Aina has advised state and federal entities on systems design, institutional reforms, and digital transformation. He has also worked closely with major examination bodies—including the National Examinations Council (NECO) and the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB)—focusing on ICT integration and examination integrity.

A Historic Milestone

Recognized as one of the country’s youngest professors of Computer Engineering, Prof. Aina makes history as the youngest Registrar to lead JAMB since its establishment.

President Bola Tinubu expressed strong confidence in the incoming Registrar’s ability to build upon the institutional reforms, transparency, and technological achievements recorded during Oloyede’s tenure while positioning the exam body for future growth.
