Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, jokingly taunted Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, during a visit by Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to the minister in Abuja.
The playful exchange occurred on Thursday as Governor Adeleke, accompanied by his nephew Davido, visited Wike at his residence shortly after meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.
A viral video from the meeting captured Davido celebrating his uncle’s victory in the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election and playfully telling Wike, “I won, I beat you,” in an apparent reference to the political contest surrounding the election.
Wike responded to the singer in a light-hearted manner, with both men appearing to exchange banter over the outcome of the election.
The video has since attracted attention on social media, particularly because of Wike’s political involvement and the intense contest that preceded the Osun governorship election.
Governor Ademola Adeleke’s visit to Wike came as part of his engagements following his re-election, as he began preparations for his second term in office.
Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, shared photographs of the meeting on social media with the caption, “Governor Ademola Adeleke visits the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.”
The meeting followed Adeleke’s earlier visit to the Presidential Villa, where he held a closed-door meeting with President Tinubu.
The sequence of visits has attracted attention among political observers, coming shortly after the Osun election in which Adeleke secured another term as governor.
Davido has been openly supportive of his uncle throughout the political contest and has previously described Adeleke’s re-election as a major political battle.
The singer had claimed that a significant number of influential political figures were arrayed against his uncle during the election, while praising Osun voters for standing by the governor.
The latest exchange with Wike, however, appeared to be largely humorous, with Davido using the opportunity to celebrate Adeleke’s victory in a light-hearted manner.
The visit also underscored the continued political interactions surrounding the Osun election, as Governor Adeleke engaged with key political figures following his victory.
