Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has pledged to construct a brand-new General Hospital in the Etche Local Government Area before the expiration of his tenure.
Governor Fubara made the commitment during the official commissioning of the newly completed Egwi-Afara-Mba Road in Etche. Addressing the gathering, the Governor disclosed that his administration has already commenced the comprehensive reconstruction and rehabilitation of zonal hospitals across the state to boost rural access to high-quality healthcare.
He assured the residents of Etche that the local government area would feature prominently in the state’s ongoing healthcare infrastructure revival.
Commenting on the newly opened infrastructure, Governor Fubara noted that the Egwi-Afara-Mba Road was a primary demand from the community. He emphasized that the project was prioritized due to its strategic economic and social importance to the area.
Despite the recent political tensions in the state, the Governor revealed that work on the road—which was flagged off in 2024—progressed without interruption. He reiterated that his administration remains steadfast in delivering critical projects that directly enhance the standard of living for everyday citizens.
Governor Fubara also appealed to the populace for patience and understanding regarding other pending requests, acknowledging the constraints of time while promising to evaluate demands for extending the newly commissioned road to Ndash.
Providing technical details at the ceremony, the Rivers State Commissioner for Works outlined the engineering specifications of the Egwi-Afara-Mba Road, reassuring residents that high structural standards were strictly adhered to ensure durability and long-term utility.
