Panic gripped Bori, the headquarters of Khana Local Government Area in Rivers State, on Sunday evening after gunmen shot and killed Mr. Letam Kine, a former Chief Security Officer of the council.
The fatal shooting occurred around 6:00 p.m. along the busy Polytechnic Road, sparking chaotic scenes as residents and passersby scrambled for safety and shop owners abruptly shuttered their businesses.

According to eyewitnesses, the unidentified assailants ambushed Kine and fled the scene immediately after the attack, escaping before security personnel could respond.
Reacting to the tragedy, the Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, Chief Dr. Thomas Bariere, strongly condemned the assassination, describing it as a senseless act of violence. He urged security forces to launch a swift investigation to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
The Rivers State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that detectives have opened an investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killing.
Speaking for the command, Police Public Relations Officer Blessing Agabe stated that the victim’s body has been deposited in a mortuary for preservation and autopsy. She urged the family of the deceased to file a formal complaint with the police to assist ongoing investigations and aid the administration of justice.
