By Olusegun Samuel Precious

The father of the young motorist shot by a police officer along Ada-George Road in Port Harcourt has debunked claims labeling his late son an internet fraudster, commonly known as a “Yahoo Boy.”

In a statement issued on Friday, Hon. Princewill Obodo urged members of the public to disregard reports tarnishing his late son’s memory, describing him as a responsible, hardworking young man.

The tragic incident, which occurred at the Agip junction area of Ada-George Road, triggered a fatal sequence of events that reportedly claimed three additional lives.

According to eyewitness accounts, an armed police officer attempted to extort the young motorist during a routine stop. When the driver allegedly sped off to evade the extortion attempt, the officer opened fire on the moving vehicle.

Hit or disoriented by the gunfire, the driver lost control of the vehicle, crashing into bystanders and killing three people at the scene.

Public outrage has continued to build across the state capital as residents demand justice for the victims and accountability from police authorities.
