The Council of Chiefs of the Buoye Omuso Brown Group of Houses has strongly condemned last weekend’s violent attack on the residence of the Amadabo of Finima, Aseme Alabo Dagogo Lambert Brown, which left several individuals injured and one person with an amputated arm.
Addressing journalists at a press briefing in Port Harcourt, the Chairman of the Council of Chiefs, Alabo Inima Dickson Brown, expressed deep regret over the incident. He revealed that the Amadabo-in-Council had previously raised alarms regarding the potential breakdown of law and order if a faction of the Tobin Chieftaincy House proceeded with a parallel Opu-Ogbo festival.
Alabo Dickson Brown noted that the dissident faction disregarded an ongoing police investigation and ignored multiple peace admonitions aimed at maintaining tranquility in the Finima community.
During the briefing, the Council Chairman detailed the casualties recorded and identified key individuals alleged to have spearheaded the violent assault on the Amadabo’s residence.
He urgently appealed to the Inspector-General of Police and relevant security agencies to intervene immediately, restore law and order, and ensure all perpetrators behind the attack are arrested and prosecuted.
