Ndume Commends Tinubu Over Implementation of Military Salary Increase

By Sandra Kenneth

Former Senate Leader and Senator representing Borno South Senatorial District, Ali Ndume, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the implementation of a new salary package for personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

In a statement issued over the weekend, the lawmaker—who previously served as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army—praised the President for redeeming his pledge to enhance the welfare of military officers and boosting troop morale across the country.

“Making a pronouncement is one thing; redeeming your pledge is a different ball game entirely,” Ndume stated. “President Tinubu has shown, times without number, that he keeps to his words. It is heartwarming to note that the salary increment he promised the Nigerian military has been redeemed.”

Ndume noted that the current administration has demonstrated a consistent commitment to addressing the country’s security challenges over the past three years through proactive funding, arms procurement, and capacity building.

He further urged security personnel to reciprocate the gesture by intensifying operations against insurgency and crime, particularly with the support of recent recruitment drives and newly activated military assets.

“I want to urge our officers to redouble their efforts to curtail insecurity since the present administration is doing everything to boost their morale,” Ndume said. “The activation of Army Aviation will also go a long way in complementing the efforts of the Air Force, especially with attack helicopters deployed across the six geopolitical zones.”

The development follows an official announcement from the Presidency committing to the full rollout of the upgraded salary scheme for military personnel.
