Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have scored a major breakthrough in combating violent crime following the arrest of a suspected kidnapper, Victor Ini, and the recovery of firearms, ammunition, and an operational vehicle.

The arrest follows an investigation into the abduction of a local resident, identified as Loveth, who was forcefully taken by armed men in front of her shop on September 2, 2026, after the assailants fired shots into the air to create panic.

Acting on directives from the State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adewole Adepoju, officers from the Eleme Police Division launched intelligence-driven operations to track down the gang. The operation culminated in a gun duel between police operatives and the suspects, leading to the arrest of the 35-year-old Akwa Ibom indigene.

Items recovered from the suspect include One silver mini Keke bus (Reg No. RBC 992 XE, Abuja), two locally made pistols and one live round of ammunition

Other Items: A mobile phone, two identity cards, two black gowns, and an additional vehicle license plate (Reg No. KRK 528 HG)

Confirming the arrest, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, stated that intelligence gathering and surveillance have been intensified to apprehend the remaining fleeing members of the syndicate.

Reassuring residents of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, CP Adepoju warned that the state will offer no safe haven for violent criminals.

As the “Ember” months approach, the Police Chief urged the public to adjust their daily security routines, remain vigilant, and promptly report suspicious activities using the Command’s emergency lines:
