Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to advancing vocational and technical education across the state’s polytechnic system to drive manpower development and economic growth.
Governor Fubara made the pledge during the 25th to 32nd combined convocation ceremony of the Kenule Beeson Sarowiwa Polytechnic (KenPoly) in Bori, Khana Local Government Area.
Represented by the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Dr. Dagogo Wokoma, the Governor emphasized that polytechnic education remains a top priority for his administration due to its critical role in equipping youths with practical skills needed for industrial and economic self-reliance.
He praised the leadership of the institution, led by the Rector, Dr. George Chile Wadike, for maintaining academic standards and staying true to the polytechnic’s core educational mandate.
Chargings the graduating class, Wokoma stated: “Demonstrate the knowledge, technical skills, and values acquired during your studies in your future endeavors, and serve as worthy ambassadors of this institution in contributing meaningfully to the growth of Rivers State and Nigeria.”
In his address, the Rector, Dr. George Chile Wadike, expressed gratitude to Governor Fubara for his sustained support, revealing that the institution had achieved full accreditation for all its academic courses under the current administration.
A total of 21,251 students across multiple academic sessions were awarded various Higher National Diplomas (HND) and National Diplomas (ND) during the grand combined convocation ceremony.
