The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring the continuous success and smooth operation of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme in the state.
Governor Fubara gave the assurance today at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Nonwa-Gbam, Tai Local Government Area, during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II corps members.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Bureau, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Promise Oguzie, the governor charged the corps members to position themselves as exemplary role models and dedicated nation-builders during their service year to both Rivers State and the nation.
According to a statement issued by the Head of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Juliana Masi, the governor urged the corps members to demonstrate integrity and commitment, advising them to fully participate in all camp activities and skill acquisition programs to enrich themselves for the future.
Earlier in his welcome address, the NYSC Rivers State Coordinator, Moses Oleghe, described their deployment to the state as a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to national development.
Oleghe further implored the corps members to serve with discipline, integrity, and the fear of God, reminding them of their crucial upcoming civic responsibilities, particularly as INEC ad-hoc staff during the 2027 general elections.
A total of 3,584 corps members—comprising 1,421 males and 2,163 females—were formally sworn into the service year by the Chief Judge of Rivers State, who was represented by Justice Godspower Aguma.
