Waste & Drainage Crisis: RIWAMA Issues Compulsory Call to GRA Phase 2 Operators

The management of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA) has summoned all business owners and operators in Government Residential Area (GRA) Phase 2 to a compulsory stakeholders’ meeting following rising concerns over indiscriminate waste dumping and blocked drainage systems.

The emergency interface is part of the agency’s renewed efforts to tackle environmental degradation and restore proper sanitation standards within the commercial and residential hub.

According to a statement issued by Ukoha Omereji, the Special Adviser to the Managing Director on Market-Community Sanitation, the meeting is scheduled to take place on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM.

The venue is the RIWAMA Conference Hall, located at Kilometer 6, Ikwerre Road, by Mechanic Bus-stop, Port Harcourt.

The agency emphasized that attendance is mandatory for all commercial operators within the designated area. The statement warned that the absence of any business owner would be officially documented and could result in strict sanctions against the non-compliant establishment.
