The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally aligned with the G-100—a coalition of 100 prominent opposition leaders—in a strategic move to build a unified front against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In an official statement issued on Tuesday by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP Interim National Working Committee, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the party declared its commitment to joining forces with credible political organizations to offer Nigerians an alternative to the current administration.
The party’s National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, stated that the PDP’s involvement in the coalition is rooted in principles of transparency, equal representation, and data-driven decision-making.
“Our participation is anchored on the promise that the process will be hinged on the philosophical underpinnings of transparency, equality, data-driven decisions, and egalitarianism,” Turaki said. “Any result birthed by a process midwifed by these virtues will certainly offer Nigerians a credible leadership capable of alleviating skyrocketing poverty and rising insecurity in the country.”
The PDP confirmed its participation in the inaugural meeting of the G-100 on August 31, 2026, describing the step as a practical demonstration of its readiness to collaborate with like-minded political platforms to contest power in the upcoming general elections.
